The Blithedale Romance

The Blithedale Romance (1852), by Nathaniel Hawthorne, was partly inspired by the author’s experiences at Brook Farm, a utopian community influenced by American Transcendentalism. A first edition of the novel can be read online here, and a critical edition published by Norton can be purchased here. The Norton edition uses the text prepared for The Centenary Edition of the Works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, a twenty-three-volume collection by Ohio State University Press (here). The Blithedale Romance is the focus of “Love Conquers All,” an essay by Jenna Silber Storey and Benjamin Storey published in the Spring 2015 issue of The New Atlantis.
